Listen to Your Notes with Text-to-Speech 🎧

Hey Nuwapen Team,

Taking notes with Nuwapen is already smooth and intuitive, but adding a text-to-speech feature would make it even better. Turning handwritten and typed notes into audio would make it easier to absorb information without always needing to read through everything.

Why This Feature Would Be Awesome:

  1. Hands-free note review makes it possible to listen while commuting, exercising, or doing chores without looking at a screen.

  2. Hearing information improves retention and makes it easier to remember important details.

  3. Adjustable playback speed allows users to skim through content quickly or slow it down for better understanding.

  4. Accessibility improves by making notes more useful for people with reading difficulties or those who prefer audio.

  5. Notes become more dynamic, turning into a personal audiobook that fits into daily life naturally.

  6. Integrating this into Nuwapen would make note-taking more flexible and efficient. Adding AI-powered natural voices would create an even smoother experience.

Would this be something you are considering?

ADDED from Jan Sapper

- Audio-recording feature that syncs my notes to the audio at the moment of writing.
- That way I can review what the context of my note was, as i may not remember what I meant with a note.

Adding an audio recording capability would enable note-audio sync! You may know that feature from Notability:

In principle the same as Notability’s recording feature. You tap on the note and it plays the audio from the moment that note was written.

Sounds like a great idea Joeri! How would you expect this to work? For example, would you like to be able to have separate interface where you have options like what to hear? Summary, reading word-for-word, action list, etc?

A “Listen” mode in the app could let users hear their notes word-for-word, as a summary, or just action items, with features like:

      • Playback controls (adjust speed, voice selection)

      • Highlighting words as they’re spoken for better engagement

      • Offline audio downloads to listen anywhere

      • Smart assistant integration for hands-free access and voice commands.

It would also be great to talk back to theapp to edit notes using voice commands. For example:

      • “Pause. Add the following to…”

      • “Delete the last sentence.”

      • “Move this to my to-do list.”

This wouldn’t need a separate interface. Just a quick menu button or gesture to activate voice commands / listen mode would be great.
